Proper Blogging?

As many of you know,I am a Newbie in these here parts but I'm learning bit by bit and day by day. There are some things I'm clear about yet others seem to continually confuse the heck out of me. The first one is how you crafty gals pump out new projects at the rate of speed I will never know,I need a nap just reviewing all of them.I mean where do you find time for everything in a normal day plus blogging and projects?
Now this is where I REALLY need you all to weigh in because I'm clueless so please DO tell me.What is proper in blogging ,for instance am I supposed to give people a home tour? Now One gal told me that it is important so people don't feel your hiding anything from them?? Now don't get me wrong I love a good ol house tour as much as the next gal but some of us don't have big beautiful homes like some of the lovelies Ive seen, and it can be a bit intimidating for the rest.

The next question I have is about Pinterest, how does one PIN or get Pinned? Wont somebody please tell me about this:) Also is it proper to blog about your feelings and things you might be going through and does anybody really want to know? I have so much on my heart to share and to connect with those of you who may be going through the same thing ,but Ive been told to stick to projects??I really would love to hear from you all and get your most valued opinions:)

Ok Ok I wont keep you too much longer I just have one more question to ask you,Comments what is expected in a comment? Some have said dont just say LOVE IT, some say be detailed and strike up a friendship but I dont want to appear as though I'm a stalker:) and lets be honest we can surely tell when its a half hearted comment right?? Those are just a few of the many questions on my mind about  the Proper way to blog, cant wait to hear from you all!

I am learning new things everyday! I just started pinterest recently so I am no expert. I just kind of figure that out as I go...wish I could be more help!

Hi, Deidre! I'm new at this also, but my advice to you would be to stay true to who you are. If you want to right a lengthy blog, go right ahead. I try to keep my short and sweet bc I feel people would rather see the pictures of my projects. My blog is mainly simple, crafty things, but it's also an outlet for me to share my faith in Jesus. Have fun with it! Your comment on my blog was so sweet and I instantly wanted to be your friend! Thank you for stopping by Bella Nest and I can't wait to get to know you better! xx to you!

...oh and as far as Pinterest goes, request an invite and download a PIN button which will go at the top on your tool bar. When you search the web, you can hit the PIN and select the picture and add a description to it. You can create different board titles to organize your pins. Also, if you want to see if anyone has pinned your stuff, go to's really cool that you can see who and what they pinned! Hope this helps!

Deidre, I really don't believe that there is a "proper" way to blog; I think that blogs were originally meant to be a personal outlet thrown out into a public forum, and if people wanted to follow then they could. Blogging has become an industry now and a lot of folks are weighing in on what you should and shouldn't do.

I yourself, be authentic, and enjoy it. Don't worry about what other people might say. And don't feel pressured to share your home; do what feels comfortable for you.

As for Pinterest, it's a fun way to have a photo board on your computer of interesting things that you've found on the Internet. You can also get some great ideas from other people's pin boards, especially if you're a crafter.

I use Pinterest to keep track of recipes I've found that I want to try, my own recipes that I want to share, quilt projects that I'd like to do, and new things I've listed in my online shop. Your boards can be anything you want them to be...just have fun with them!

First, thanks for visiting my blog and commenting... it looks like you are already doing that, which is the best way I've found into the blogging community.

As for home tour... There is NO WAY I'd ever do it. I'm in a small cramped condo and crafting/blogging time cut comes at a bit of a sacrifice to keeping my place a show piece (as if it would be anyway). Do what you are comfortable with. Your blog is your little world. Those who are comfortable will stick around, and as long as you are sincere, there will be plenty of us that do. I'm new too (about 3 months now) and just figuring it all out as I go along. :-)

I am now following you.

I am with pam at antique or not, just be yourself. This is your blog and do what makes you happy with it. Don't feel you have to perform to please others. My blog is a perfect example, I am all over the place. I don't have a niche, I just blog what is going on at the moment. It is my journal and if folks want to come along for the ride then they are more than welcome. Just ENJOY!

Hi Deidre~
So nice to meet you, I will comment here instead of replying to your post. well, I might do that
I am with Pam, I think you are putting to much pressure on yourself about blogging. Do what feels right, there is no right or wrong way. I read through a few of your posts ( will go see some more) and I find it delightful. I think you are sop on. Share what you would one has the right answers. You replied one of my posts, I fretted about, see I still do it after all these years. Am I sharing to much? Well, I have had so many friends old and new, send me notes, as you did, see? I know now my choice to share was the right one.
Much luck to you, I am following you now as well.
I will not get into Pinterest...I promised myself, I am on this computer to much as is...Have fun!!! Just be Deidre. :)

There is no "proper" way to blog. I have to agree with Holly, just make it yours. You write for yourself, and if there are folks that like what you have to Say, then they will return for more. As for Pinterest, Holly summed it up.

Hi Deidre! Sorry I'm 10 days late for commenting on this post. My heads been spinning in circles.

I feel the same way when I see other crafty type blogs and think to myself... How in the world do they get so many projects done".

But, I have to remind myself... even though there are many that can do it all (craft, blog and take care of a home) many of us can't. We simply do not have the time and that's okay! We may spend a lot of time crafting but are lacking in the other areas. I for one find that if I spend a lot of time on crafts and blogging that our home ends up looking like a tornado ripped through it.

There are many suggestions online that give us tips on how we should blog, but ultimately... it's your blog... your voice... your life. I have struggled with this very thing. I don't give a home tour per say, but I do share parts of our home as we are redoing it. I'm very intimidated by other bloggers with such beautiful homes. If you don't feel comfortable sharing those things that's okay too. :)

Ultimately, try to enjoy blogging and post what you enjoy and feel comfortable sharing.

By the way, did you get my reply about the category cloud?

I hope that I made sense... I ramble a lot. LOL

I really enjoyed viewing your blog and when I got to your questions on this post, I thought 'this is a kindered spirit'.

I didn't leave comments on blogs when there were already 35 or so, but then read that I should to be polite (????) As for posting about your feelings...I wouldn't be able to say anything if I didn't! Come visit sometime, I think we could be friends.
