A Simple Fall Twig Wreath

We recently put a new front door on and it totally changes the look of our home but I still need to choose a color and paint it.As I was mowing the lawn and glancing every so often at the new door,it seemed to me to be missing something (other than paint) lol.It got me to thinking that a simple Fall wreath would do the trick. So down into my craft room I went to construct a very easy and seasonal wreath.
All you will need is a sturdy twig wreath
Hot glue gun
Varied sizes of pine cones
Dollar store trimmings and ribbon. I just tore apart an old wreath and got out my Fall decorations from last year and started hot gluing pine cones and old leaf garland that I cut up. When I was done gluing everything I made a ribbon from some ribbon that I got at the dollar store, thats it! Now all I have to do is buy a wreath hanger and hang it outside.

Cooler Days in the Garden

Well the rain finally came but quite briefly leaving us with cooler nights but still dry hot days.Something I noticed after the rain came was that plants that had already bloomed and faded away were now blooming again. What a most pleasant surprise! As I was out this morning I took a few pictures of my favorites for you, enjoy.......

Wishing for Rain....

As I'm out in the garden this morning {well whats left of my drought ravaged gardens, lol}I was looking at whats still hanging on before the fall blooms start to emerge. So many blooms have come and gone so fast but I'm seeing some making a comeback because Ive been watering faithfully for the last week. The Japanese beetles are still chomping away on my flowers but hopefully I can treat the lawn next spring to avoid this situation from happening again. My beautiful Hydrangeas didn't bloom this year but I investigated and found out that its because Ive got all new wood growing so next summer I will have plenty of flowers!
The birds and the butterfly's are still enjoying my gardens and they don't seem to mind whats been going on and I'm thrilled to see them every day!

A Simple Table

Whew! Today is the first day in MONTHS that its actually cool and breezy outside and I'm not a hostage in my house anymore.Still no rain but I will most definitely take a cool breeze!
As I was garage sailing last week I was getting ready to leave a sale when I saw a small old table{Yes I'm addicted to tables!}loaded up with tools for sale.I asked the sale owner if the table was for sale and she said yes and I asked what shed take for it and she said $5!! Am I lucking out with the five dollar sales or what! So I made my daughter carry it to the van and home we went. When I got it in the garage I noticed a small metal tag on the front that said Gaylord Bros. Inc. so I asked around and found that its a very well made furniture Co. Who knew?
The tabletop was kind of worn a bit and since Im simply addicted to white for some strange reason I decided to give it one coat of chalk paint and just distress it some.It fits right in around here in our work in progress family room!
