My Hutch Before and After

This was an old Ginormous hutch that was given to me many years ago.
I was always very hesitant about doing anything radical to its appearance but one day the urge just struck me.This is the before picture and I felt I wanted to make it more me and lighten it up abit.First I took the old topper off the hutch and then made up my trusty chalk paint and painted  and painted..The inside backing is just a piece of plywood and so I wanted to give it the appearance of age so I painted the back white then over it I did a green color then over that another coat of white.I kept the shelves the same color.
When I was done and it was dry I sanded the back all over exposing the green here and there roughly.I heavily distressed the hutch all over and gave it a coat of dark wax so as to not have that in your face white.Im so pleased with the new look and the way the green came through the back. Its a real keeper.

Awesome transformation. I am thinking of all the ones I have seen on the trash pile through out the years that I did not know to run and grab. :-( This is such a creative post. I would love it if you would share this post at our WIW linky party. Hope you can join us. :-)

OOO, you brave brave girl to tackle something so LARGE. It looks magnificent, girlfriend. Just beautiful....you did an awesome job on it and I wish you lived next door to me 'cause I have a tiny hutch that I am about to do the same thing to. However, I am doing mine in black, leaving the inside as is (natural), adding a cabinet light....I am just scared to get started....I am olden and don't have much courage left....:(
THANK YOU so much for following and I am following right back..Maybe we'll meet in the middle and we can talk about our hutches...:)))

Looks great, Diedre. And I think we have some of the same china (the one on your top shelf) - I had a tea service and cake stand in that pattern for many years. Wonder where it is now?
